Dr. Elena Manara is a researcher at MAGI Euregio in Bolzano (Italy) and she is involved in projects related to rare and genetic diseases. Her interests focus on the functional characterization of variants of unknown significance and in the identification of new disease associated genes in families affected by rare and genetic disorders by whole exome sequencing.
She is a delegate for MAGI- group to Alliance for health promotion. She has received her degree in Biotechnology in 2005 and her PhD in hemato-oncology and immunology at the University of Padova, Italy in 2010. As a visiting researcher, she attended for two-year the Laboratory headed by Prof. Sakamoto at the University of California - Los Angeles (UCLA). She has gained experience in both translational and basic research by developing in vitro and in vivo models of acute myeloid leukemia, identifying new tumor markers to stratify patients in the most appropriate risk protocols with the aim of improving their prognosis. She is co-author of more than 25 papers published on international journals.
