Kerem Teralı

Dr Teralı started his undergraduate studies in the field of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Istanbul Technical University, from where he graduated first in the class of 2005. He then continued his graduate studies as a BBSRC Scholar at the University of St Andrews, earning an MRes there in Structural Proteomics in 2006. In 2010, he earned a PhD from Queen Mary, University of London for research into Biochemistry with Mechanistic and Structural Biology. He was on a full College Scholarship while at Queen Mary. After returning back to Cyprus, he started working as a Scientific Officer with the Committee of Missing Persons, where he published several papers on the population genetic, forensic and genealogical studies of Turkish Cypriots. Currently, he works as an Associate Professor of Medical Biochemistry at Near East University School of Medicine. His research interests include molecular biology and genetics, protein structure and function, enzymology, biochemical toxicology, and computational biology and chemistry. Most of his papers are concerned with the studies of xenobiotic inhibitors acting on the body’s detoxification enzyme systems or of non-silent mutations occurring in disease-associated proteins. Dr Teralı is a member of the National Cancer Advisory Board as well as of the Cyprus Journal of Medical Sciences Editorial Board.
